Most of my relevant experience has been gained within my own family; I am the youngest of nine children, and as such, have many nieces and nephews whom I've cared for frequently during their growing years.
One specific experience comes to mind involving a one-year-old; she is the youngest of eight children, all of whom are under my care at times. Although, she is barely beginning to speak intelligible words, her comprehension of many things is so evident! It can be a challenge when her parents leave because their ties to their children are so strong, but as soon as her curiosity is piqued by a necklace, conversation or some other thing, it is exciting to watch her engage in interaction with her older siblings or actively show off her walking and step-climbing skills!
As long as I can remembered, I've been drawn to kids, first in the church nursery after the service- when, in fact, I was not much older than the toddlers...., and later I was able to realize that love in babysitting and nannying for my sisters as well as several other unrelated families.
My main work has been in the public library, cosmetology, dairying, and music. In these areas, I have gained ability to better understand, teach, and care for young people, as well as in the directly related tasks of teaching Sunday school, church nursery care, and babysitting.
