More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
From [phone number hidden] I worked seasonally (school breaks) for Portland Parks and Recreation as a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor. With teaching specifically, I have classes for children as young as 6 months all the way up to adult lesson.
I have more than 4 years of tutoring experience for children aged 5-13 in subjects like math, science, history, and Chinese.
Summer 2021 I worked for Portland Public Schools as a Teacher's assistant for a bilingual summer camp at King Elementary School. This program was aimed at maintaining children's Chinese abilities over the summer break. Specifically I worked alongside a teacher with a group of 15 or so students who were incoming Kindergartners (aged 4-5).
I also have 6 years of babysitting experience for various families in the Portland area.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Coloring, board games, puzzles, and riddles were hallmarks of my childhood and I would love to do that with your child(ren).
I love being creative and playing make-believe. I think kids are so bright, and I love to hear what they come up with.
Being the summer, going outside and doing chalk art, playing sports, biking, and taking walks are all fun sunny-weather activities.
Finally, I have a car and would love to do outings like going to the Zoo, the Children's Museum, a park/pool, or any other local activity.

My experience with special needs children...
Through my experience as a Swim Instructor, I have had the privilege of working with many special needs children. I was also often specially chosen to act as support for the special needs children, based on positive feedback I had previously received.
I will note that this was for 30 minute swim lessons and not extended care.
The most important thing is that I am super open to learn more about accommodations and strategies to better serve a child's needs.

Live-In Full-Time Child Care Provider Available in Portland, OR: Grace L.
Hello, my name is Grace. A bit about me, I recently graduated from cosmetology school. I’m looking to settle down while finishing my testing for my full cosmetology license now. Ive babysat for the kids in my neighbor hood for years till the grew up and didn’t need me anymore. Ive always been good with kids, whether they are in the clingy stages or the independent stages. I’m always prepared for different emotions that may come up on the daily. I am the baby of the family and I understand how it feels to be treated too much like a baby. I try to relate with the kids on that part of things. I don’t like to use the word disabling but rather teaching. That’s what it is, them learning what is okay and what is inappropriate. I like to show them that they can be free and have fun!
