A little bit about me

My name is Jennifer Lobato and I am a Montessori infant and toddler teacher with 12 years of experience. I also have two children, 12 and 15, who I have raised with a Montessori philosophy. After over a decade in a school setting I am making the switch to a nanny position. I am incredibly passionate about what I do and I have realized the most meaningful part of what I did working in a classroom setting was work alongside amazing families. I believe in working WITH parents to support their needs just as much as the child's needs. I always tell my parents my role is the expert in child development and education while your role is the expert on your child as an individual and if we work together we can help your child develop to their highest potential.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been a Montessori infant and toddler teacher for the last 12 years. I also have two children of my own that are 16 and 13.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I like to observe what each child is interested in and what their behavior is telling me they need to work on. For example - if a toddler is really into throwing things then I would provide a variety of activities that allow them to meet that need in an appropriate way. Along with a simple basket of balls to throw we could also have a tissue box of scarves to pull out and throw, a box of bean bags with a net to catch them in so they can be challenged with getting the bean bag into the net, a few paint brushes and some paint and a large canvas so they can fling paint on it using the paint brush, etc. So activities I enjoy doing are whatever meets the need of the child, engages their senses, is appropriate and developmentally beneficial.

The most important part about being a nanny...

This will be my first experience as a nanny, however I would say the most important part about being a nanny is cultivating the relationship with both children and parents that builds trust. The goal is to provide the best care for the children. This includes providing security, routine, beneficial and fun experiences, and love! That can only happen if there is a positive relationship. What I bring to the table is my expertise in child development and care. What parent's bring is expertise in their child as an individual and the managerial framework of their family lifestyle.
