A little bit about me

I am interested in being an occasional babysitter or a substitute for a regular nanny who has to take a day off. I do not want a fixed schedule because I enjoy travel now that I am fully retired. Because of an immune condition, I prefer not to care for children experiencing acute illness. I enjoy children of all ages.

I retired after 30+ years in education supporting K-8 students with emotional, social and behavioral needs so they could thrive in school. My gifts with children were apparent from a young age. As a teenager, I worked as a babysitter, sports camp counselor and coach. I enjoy engaging children of all ages in creative play and outdoor activities. I am reliable, patient, playful, kind and have strong skills in positive parenting.

Being a positive role model is most important to me when interacting with young people. I want the child(ren) to know that they have another caring positive adult in their life who believe in them in addition to their parents and relatives. I believe it "takes a village" to raise a child. Making a difference matters to me.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When I was babysitting, I helped the 3 children create a scavenger hunt for their parents. When the parents arrived home, they had to follow the clues to locate each of the children in the house. It was a time filled with lots of giggles and surprises.
