A little bit about me

My name is Oluchi, I'm based in Cleveland and I'm a mum of two boys — so caring for children is something that comes very naturally to me.

I hold a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Education, which means I bring both real life parenting experience and a genuine understanding of how children learn and develop.

I'm patient, calm and I genuinely love children — and I think that combination is what makes me not just a good babysitter, but one that families can truly trust. 😊

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My experience with children spans both professional and personal settings, which I think gives me a really well rounded background.

Professionally, I have taught young children in a classroom setting, which gave me hands on experience in early childhood education, managing group dynamics and creating engaging, structured learning environments.

I also volunteer at my church teaching children, which has been a wonderful experience in connecting with kids of different ages and backgrounds in a nurturing, community setting.

And of course, being a mum of two boys has been my greatest classroom of all — it's where I've learned patience, consistency and how to truly understand and respond to a child's needs on a daily basis.

So between teaching, volunteering and motherhood, caring for and nurturing children has always been a very big part of my life. 😊

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love keeping children engaged in activities that are both fun and meaningful!

Indoors, I enjoy reading stories together, arts and crafts, puzzles, building blocks and simple cooking or baking activities — children absolutely love being involved in the kitchen! I also enjoy educational games that sneak in learning around letters, numbers and colours without it feeling like a lesson. 🎨

Outdoors, I love taking children to the park, nature walks where we explore and talk about what we see, bike rides and just good old fashioned outdoor play — fresh air and movement are so important for little ones. ☀️

With my Education background I'm always thinking about how an activity can support a child's development while still being enjoyable — because the best learning always happens when children don't even realise they're learning! 😊

The most important part about being a nanny...

For me, the most important part of being a nanny is trust — in every sense of the word.

Trust from the parents, knowing that their child is safe, loved and in good hands while they're away. I never take that lightly. When a parent hands their child over to me, they're not just trusting me with a responsibility — they're trusting me with the most precious thing in their life. That means everything to me.

And trust from the child too — children need to feel safe and secure with the person caring for them. Building that bond, being consistent, being someone a child can rely on — that's what makes the difference between just showing up and truly making an impact.

As a mum myself, I know exactly how it feels to leave your child in someone else's care. That feeling never leaves you. So I always ask myself — would I be happy with how I'm caring for this child if the parent was watching? And the answer has to always be yes.

My experience with special needs children...

I have personal and professional experience supporting children with diverse developmental needs, which is something I feel very passionate about.

As a mum, I have first hand experience raising a child with autism — so I understand deeply what it means to be patient, consistent and attentive to a child who experiences the world differently. It has truly shaped the kind of caregiver I am.

Beyond my own home, I have also privately tutored children with special needs, including children with dyslexia and autism. Working with these children has taught me how to adapt my approach, communicate differently and celebrate every small milestone — because every bit of progress matters.

I never see special needs as a limitation — I see it as a reminder that every child has their own unique way of learning and thriving, and my job is to find that way and nurture it.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Oh I have so many but one that always makes me smile is when I ask children to spell their names for me as a little learning activity. I was working with a boy named Isaac and very confidently asked him to spell his name for me — and without missing a beat he goes... Z-P-Y-W-S-X! 😂

Completely serious, so proud of himself, not a single doubt in his mind that he had nailed it! I had to hold it together and keep a straight face because he was so confident and I didn't want to discourage him.

But that's honestly one of my favourite things about working with young children — that pure, unfiltered confidence they have. It reminds me that my job isn't just to correct them, it's to nurture that confidence while gently guiding them in the right direction. Those little moments make everything so worth it!
