A little bit about me

Hello! I'm Maddi. I am the middle child among my seven siblings. I have numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren spanning various age groups. Currently, I am seeking a position as a full-time mother's helper or nanny. I am willing to assist with running errands and light housework as needed. Having been surrounded by children for most of my life, I have developed a strong understanding of how to care for them. My schedule is quite flexible, and I hope it aligns well with yours and your family's needs. I find joy in aiding others in any way possible and cherishing moments spent with children. Additionally, I hold certifications in CPR and First Aid. I am eager to potentially work with your family and look forward to hearing from you soon!

Recent reference

"When Maddi first came to us our daughter had just turned 1. Our daughter is smart and has a big personality so we knew we needed someone who could keep up with her. Maddi dove in headfirst and knocked it out of the park. Our daughter is great but she tests all boundaries and can be stubborn. Maddi is kind and patient through all of it. Maddi lets her work through whatever problem she is facing while at the same time coaching her. Maddi knows how to cut frustrations and get our daughter back to having fun. Not only is Maddi kind and attentive to our daughter but she is wonderful with our dog and managing the interaction between the two. Maddi works with our daughter on colors, shapes, numbers, expanding her vocabulary, singing songs, outdoor play, and more. Something that has been helpful is Maddi’s flexibility. There have been many times that last minute I ask her to stay late or shift her hours and she accommodates us every time. Any family will be lucky to add her to their team."

A little bit about me

I am a mom of 3 boys and I am 42 years old. I love to be outdoors, hiking, going to the beach and looking for the next adventure!!
Two of my sons are young adults now. With my youngest son I was a stay at home mom for 4 years. I have experience in education and teaching as I decided to homeschool my son for 3 years and give him the proper intervention for his dyslexia. He is now back in school full time.

I discovered during this time that I ultimately have a passion for teaching and working with children.
My previous job experience is primarily in the hospitality field in Massachusetts, Boston with over 15 years experience.
My husband, son and myself have recently relocated to Florida this past summer.
My passion is working with children and I looking for a fabulous family to care for.

How to Find a Babysitter in Venice, FL

Nanny Lane is a child care website meant to help you find a babysitter in your area. Our child care services include background checks, PLUS, and payroll.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Venice, FL

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Venice can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Venice Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Florida?
  • Do you have a Florida driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
