A little bit about me

I'm a graduate student in Acting at U of M! 24 years old. I love to read and entertain, and I love kids! I was once certified in CPR and First Aid for children but haven't taken the course to get re-certified. (The certification expires after a few years.) I feel comfortable cooking and cleaning. I had an uncle who was special needs (downs) and so I have a special place in my heart for special needs kids.

A little bit about me

I love children! Probably because I am a kid at heart. I believe one of the most important things is to really listen to children, so they’re not overlooked. I believe that every child is smart in their own way, and I believe in recognizing and encouraging everything they are naturally good at and even the things they’re not good at, they can become good at. I believe laughter is the best medicine and as we age, I think we forget that sometimes. Some of my best memories are laughing with kids and just being silly.

A little bit about me

My previous job was as a Teacher Naturalist/Summer Camp Counselor at a nature center in Billings and it taught me so much about taking care of and teaching tiny humans.
And besides that I have 8 siblings so I've had a lifetime to learn how to care for kiddos and it really never gets old!

A little bit about me

My name is Symantha! I have taught 4th grade in the state of Missouri for three years. I currently have a teaching license in the state of Montana as well, but I'm looking for a change of pace. Prior to becoming a teacher I worked at a daycare/preschool where I worked in the nursery and with kiddos ages 2-6.

I love doing activities with kiddos that include: arts and crafts, playing outside and age appropriate learning activities.

I'm excited to bring my nurturing personality and strong sense of responsibility into a home where I can contribute to a happy and healthy environment.

A little bit about me

I just graduated from the University of Montana last fall with my degree in Digital Arts and Technology and am considering returning this fall.

I've worked with the YMCA in their after-school program for a couple of semesters and I was a full-time nanny for a group of 3 girls (ages 4-12) a couple of summers ago and absolutely loved my time with them! Working at these jobs my responsibilities often included helping kids with homework, preparing breakfast/snacks/lunch, games & crafts, playing outside with them, and cleaning up (sweeping, dishes, wiping down countertops/tables) as well as the occasional trip to the local library. I went through their First Aid and CPR training in order to get the job but that was a couple of years back so I'm sure if my licenses are technically still active but I'd be happy to get re-certified if needed.

I'm also comfortable with cats and dogs and don't mind helping around the house a bit, assisting with homework, pets, or errands!

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Missoula, MT

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Missoula can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Missoula Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Montana?
  • Do you have a Montana driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
