A little bit about me

Hi I am Erin Pendleton! I have lived in Parker my whole life. I go to Regis Jesuit Highschool in Aurora and I am attending West Texas A&M in the Fall. I did alot of service for my school and one thing I did that I enjoyed so much was working with 3rd graders at Jewel Elementry. So that is why I am on this site!

A little bit about me

I am the oldest of 4 children from St. Paul MN. I love little kids and am a super gentle, patient and energetic person. I’ve been a camp councilor at Trout Lake Camps for two summers in a row and now that I live in Durango it is my dream to get a job where I can connect with little kids. Working with families and their children brings me a great warm heart and I love to share all my creativity, passion and adventurous spirit with some little friends. I am very good naturally with toddlers and babies. My favorite age group would have to be 4th graders. Ever have a conversation with a 4th grader? It might just be one of the most unfiltered and optimistic conversations you will ever have! I love that kids bring a radiant light to this world and as an upand xoming asult it helps ground me to be around people who do not take life so seriously. I’m super responsible due to the fact that I’m the oldest child and I always go out of my way to make sure there are lots of activities planned for the day. Growing up my mom made sure we spent playing outside and using our imagination.. I have since not ost my profound liking for raw life and try to incorporate that very authentic experience into all of my interactions with people! I am a student studying art and PSYC at the fort, in hopes of someday being an art therapist. I will be in Durango for the whole summer and would absolutely enjoy nannying for someone’s beautiful family!

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Durango, CO

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Durango Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Durango? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Durango?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in CO? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
