A little bit about me
I have been nannying part time for a few years now, and have been babysitting for over a decade. I recently decided to pursue childcare full-time, as I am extremely passionate about being a part of the village that helps children grow.
I am a musician (guitar and flute,) a huge bookworm, a rock climber, and a photographer, and love to share my interests and knowledge with kids. I grew up playing a sport for every season, so I am a big fan of trips to the park or backyard.
While I would describe myself as a free spirit, and definitely believe that helps in my work in childcare, I also believe that kiddos require structure to thrive, so I'd say my approach is the meeting ground of fun and developmental.
My primary goal as a caregiver is to nurture a child and help them grow into the kindest, most empathetic and inclusive person they could be, so it is important to me that I work for a family who shares those values.

A little bit about me
I'm an animal lover with three cats of my own at home. I love to bake and read and spend time outdoors. I'm a huge reader and love to spend time reading with children and exploring libraries! I have my own vehicle and am willing to drive and complete errands and chores upon the families requests. I love taking road trips and finding new places to explore. I'm hoping I can find a family with the same kind of interest where I can show case my skills.

A little bit about me
I’m a chef by trade and still do private chef events and meal prep, but my most important jobs have always been working with children. I worked at Little Lambs academy for many years in lake Katrine, NY (now known as happy horizons) and transitioned into starting my own food program at that daycare.
Before my time working at the daycare, I was a live in nanny in Dallas Texas.
My biggest pride is that I’m an Auntie to 33 nieces and nephews who I am very close with!
I love discovering each little person’s personality while caring for their needs and bringing an element of fun to their daily lives. I take my responsibilities very seriously and their safety as my number one priority.
I also like to include the parents in little ways by sending videos or pictures throughout their day, because I know how hard it can be to not be with them.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in New Paltz, NY
Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.
New Paltz Nanny Interviews
Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:
- Do you have experience being a nanny?
- How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
- What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
- Are you open to a live in arrangement in New Paltz? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
- Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
- Do you have any references?
- Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in New Paltz?
- Do you have a driver’s license in NY? Do you own a car?
- What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
- What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?
During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny
Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
