A little bit about us

I am a mom to four, working full time, and really need some help getting kids back and forth mostly... they have special needs but are amazing kiddos. My two youngest are the ones I need help with watching them as I’m a nurse and work 8-5... I have a 10 y/o and 7 y/o. I need someone who is comfortable and either has experience with or is ok with learning about psych concerns for my 10 y/o.
The perfect candidate would be willing to aid in helping me use my son’s hours through two different programs so that he doesn’t lose the hours. One program is through an agency and the other is self directed through me as the boss. Both require a background check. I will also be willing to pay up extra out of pocket since it’ll be for my daughter as well. One pays $15.55, the other pays $17/hour. My kids are in school 7:30-2:15 and have after school things four days at week from 5:30-6:30. Primary hours, although negotiable and may change, would be 2pm to 7pm about with some occasional weekend help (with prior notice).

How to Find a Special Needs Nanny Job in New Mexico

Start by creating your profile so that families can quickly learn about you. Once your profile highlights your skills and personality, you can message families to find the right nanny job for you.

What is a Special Needs Nanny Job in New Mexico

A special needs nanny focuses on caring for children with special needs. You’ll be responsible for creating individualized care and activities that combine both consistency and stimulation. The family you’re caring for will have schedules and preferences to share with you to ensure that their child receives the best care possible.

Preparing for a Special Needs Nanny Job Interview in New Mexico

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is a special needs nanny job interview. Here is a list of some infant nanny interview questions to prepare for:

  • What is your specific experience with this diagnosis?
  • Can you tell us about your experiences with children with special needs?
  • Do you have any New Mexico special training?
  • What would you do if an emergency arises?
  • How strictly do you usually follow a schedule with children with special needs?

At this stage, you should come prepared with references from past special needs nanny jobs. It is a great opportunity to see how you fit in with the family and ask any questions about the responsibilities or compensation. To ensure everyone has a shared understanding of the role and responsibilities; we recommend asking for a job offer or a nanny contract.
