A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Meagan, and I am a loving and nurturing nanny who strives to foster learning in the most natural way possible, through play and exploration! I have spent the last 4 years working at Mobius Discovery Center but miss the 1:1 connection allowed by nannying. I fill my nannying days with sensory trays, art projects, reading, outside play, and adventures that help little ones explore their ever-expanding worlds. The past 15 years of my life have been devoted to working with children (mostly toddlers), with my breaks in nanny experience being filled by 2 years of education in Child Development, time spent working at daycares and preschools, and time as a social skills group facilitator for children with anxiety and autism.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked as a nanny for most of my adult life and spent the last 4 years working at Mobius Discovery Center (children’s museum). I have also volunteered at a Reggio Emilia Preschool in the infant, toddler, and preschool rooms. In addition, I taught at a daycare over the course of a summer in college. I also have experience working as a facilitator of a group for kids with anxiety, selective mutism and autism.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing sensory time with toddlers with items including sensory trays, play-doh, shaving cream, crinkle paper, bubble wrap, etc. I enjoy being active outside, going for walks, doing chalk art, or playing at parks. Getting creative with art is always fun, doing activities as simple as finger painting, or more complex, like tissue box instruments, when your child is ready! I am definitely an engaging nanny who loves to fill the day with busy fun.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Safety is absolutely number one, but there are two parts to safety. Children need to be kept physically safe, and they need to know that they are emotionally safe, that whomever they are with loves them and will respond to their needs.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked as a co-facilitator at a counseling office for people ages six- young adult with autism, selective mutism, and anxiety.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are too many to count! I find joy in it every day! I think a moment that stands out to me was when a child a used to babysit as a 6th grader told me as she was graduating high school that she was becoming a teacher. She said it was her interaction with me as a child that inspired her to work with kids. But there are little moments with kiddos every day. When they come out with socks on their hands or a box on their head, I just laugh and think "I love my job!"
