A little bit about us

Looking for a nanny for my one year old and kindergarten son, as well as a house cleaner. Hours would be 8 to 5 Monday to Thursday. Typical day would include watching one year old girl, tidy the house, then watch son until 5 (after father brings him home at 2). A good house cleaning once a week would be needed as well. We have no pets and will supply lunch items.

A little bit about us

I'm looking for someone to watch my fun, active boys in the afternoons from 11:30-5 during the work week while I am tutoring students. We are screen free during the week but they love sports, books, puzzles, games, exploring...and so much more. Since we don't allow screens, I don't ask for any other jobs other than playing with my children and picking my older son up from school 2 days a week....on the same street we live on. We are looking for someone long term who will be able to keep up with their bubbly energy and desire to learn. We also have an adorable puppy of 6 months who is super sweet and friendly. My husband and I are
born and raised in SB and just can't get enough of all that this beautiful city has to offer. We can't wait to meet you!

A little bit about us

Kaylor is our very bright and energetic 8 month old! He loves being in the spotlight and entertaining those around him. He’s very receptive and has a contagious laugh. He is a very easy going child but because he loves life, he naturally does not like falling asleep. The biggest learning curve for him is learning how to put him down for naps, but other than that, he has an easy time feeding and playing!

He needs to be hung out with from 8am-1pm Monday through Friday. We are flexible on the location (our house or yours). He’s good with dogs and cats if you have any, and he loves being outdoors. He gets bored easily when he is inside doing the same activity for too long, so as long as you can switch things up like taking him on a walk, going for a drive, reading to him, or just including him with your activities, he will be very happy!

What are typical nanny responsibilities and duties?

Nanny responsibilities primarily involve providing care for the children they are looking after. This can include activities like preparing meals, helping with homework, and taking them to and from school or extracurricular activities. Nannies are often expected to engage children in age-appropriate developmental activities as well. In Santa Barbara, this could involve visiting the Santa Barbara Zoo, exploring the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, or spending time at the numerous beautiful beaches.

For more specific duties, nannies can refer to their nanny contract, which provides a detailed description of their roles and responsibilities.

How should I prepare for a nanny interview?

Preparing for a nanny interview involves understanding what the family expects from the role and considering how your skills and experience align with those needs. Reflect on your past experiences and think about how they can benefit the family you are interviewing with. Be ready to answer nanny interview questions about your past nanny responsibilities, how you handle difficult situations, your communication style, and your methods of fostering child development.

What is the typical interview process for a nanny job in Santa Barbara?

Typically, the interview process for a nanny job in Santa Barbara begins with a phone or video interview. If that goes well, families usually invite candidates for an in-person interview. This could be at their home or a neutral location. Some families may even ask the candidate to do a 'trial run' where the nanny spends some time with the children. This allows both parties to see if they are a good fit for each other.

What is a nanny contract and why is it important?

A nanny contract is a legally binding document that outlines the agreement between the nanny and the family they work for. This contract usually includes details such as the nanny's duties, work hours, salary, vacation time, and terms of termination. It's important as it helps both parties understand their expectations and responsibilities, providing a clear guideline for the employment relationship.

How does nanny payroll work?

Nanny payroll refers to the process of paying a nanny's salary and handling relevant taxes. Families typically pay their nanny on a regular schedule, such as weekly or bi-weekly. Some families use a nanny payroll service, which helps manage tax withholdings and ensures that all necessary employment taxes are paid. This service simplifies the payroll process and ensures that families are compliant with all tax laws.

How important are background checks when trying to find a nanny job?

Background checks are a crucial part of the nanny hiring process. Most families request a background check to ensure the safety and well-being of their children. A background check typically includes criminal history, driving records, and previous employment verification. If you are looking to find a nanny job, be prepared for potential employers to request a background check.
