A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Wendy and I currently work as a state certified caregiver for children and adults with special needs. I work for a large company and though I have been here for 5+ years I'm looking for a change of pace. Lately I have been working with a lot of adults in group settings of up to 5 clients per 1 caregiver. I do prefer working in smaller ratios and with children, they're a heck of a lot more fun! I love their silly and fun loving nature. Before I fell into this company I worked as an instructional assistant at an elementary school and worked with children ranging from 2nd to 8th grade. I do also have a child of my own, she is 7 years old, so I have vast experience with babies as well. Im a happy, hard working, and honest person. I love my job but i want to work with children more than i do adults. I feel that I have a very well rounded background to be a nanny. And just hope I can find a family that can use my experience to meet the needs of there children. Thank you.

A little bit about me

I am doing school as of right now. I love all the kids I watch and they are treated like my siblings! I never stop playing and running around with them. Your child would never be bored with me. I will also be able to help the kids with homework and transportation. Light housekeeping is also good! I think of myself as fun, smart, hardworking and funny! I have had so much experience with kids and I just love it. I am also willing to get cpr certified. My availability is very open, the only time I am not available is Monday-Thursday between 5pm-7:40pm.

A little bit about me

I have been working with children for almost 20 years. I’m classrooms and privately. I have my cpr and 1st Aid certification and I take different courses continually to keep my knowledge ever expanding and up to date. I teach Infant Survival Swim as well as regular swim lessons as I feel both are very important here in Arizona where there are so many pools and places to cool off in our summer heat. I have experience with children who have behavioral issues as well as medical issues such as juvenile diabetes and leg braces and helmets. I believe that education and care don’t just happen by staying inside but by exploration and getting out to see what’s available in the community. I have my library card and enjoy spending time in the classes they offer for children and checking out books to keep interest in learning constant and exciting. We go to museums, zoos, discovery centers, wildlife parks and gardens. I teach baby sign language for the younger children to help strengthen communication. Each child I work with gets their own personalized set of flash cards and games that include words and names that they encounter more often than just generic words. I also create an educational developmental plan to help each child prepare for their future. I am available all hours and in any emergency situation 24 hours a day. My current family believe that their little one is fully prepared for her school so I am becoming available shortly! I hope to hear from you!

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Phoenix, AZ

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Phoenix Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Phoenix? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Phoenix?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in AZ? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
