"Erika is a wonderful nanny who took wonderful care of both of our l boys. She helped us during the newborn phase right when we brought our youngest home from the hospital and managed the toddler (2yrs)full time. She know about baby development and milestones and helped us encourage the baby to sit, crawl, etc. she is able to manage both boys which is very impressive! She cooks the toddlers food, does boy boys laundry, feeds them, plays with them and takes them to the park every day. She has built a true routine (food naps etc) for our boys and our family. She is always punctual, never late, never missed a day of work and is most importantly warm and loving to our boys, She will be deeply missed in our house and if you are able to hire her, please do! You will be so happy you did."

A little bit about me

Hello im Mae. I'm 30 years old. I have experience working with kids & raising kids of all different race and wonderful talents and more also I'm a sister of 8 boys & 5 girls. Also have 32 niece and 18 nephews. So I have a lot of experience in all kinds of areas, and was a wonderful live in nanny for a lot of neices & nephews . Which gave me more experience on top of all my out reach, boys and girls clubs & mentor, the youth that have less hope at the time, I meet them, and I was able to give back all of my life experiences that made me strong and will power to be the best understanding, compassionate, responsible, love & caring me. I gifted a vision of hope/anything is possible to them. If you work to make it reality. Most importantly not only a dream in they head. Believe it or not they was the ones that was super heroes to me because they was my reason to keep fighting through & make my dreams come to reality. Thank you for taking the time to read this.Hope to meet you & the family

A little bit about me

I am a creative, active and fun acting graduate originally from Thousand Oaks, California. I am a big fan of gentle-parenting and breathing focused communication. I have worked with all kinds of children in the nannying world and outside in the acting world where I have taught theatre camps, classes, etc. Each experience has enriched my life with joy and laughter, meaning and reflection. I care very much for the families I work for, as well as being a great housekeeper, I am also an excellent cook. Cooking with children is one of my favorite things to do, as they seem to love experimenting with it as much as I love to teach them! The same goes for creativity in all aspects. I have all kinds of art projects, games, creative outlets right in my back pocket to take out whenever! I have a lot of experience with animals. Cats, dogs, rabbits, lizards, horses- I actually used to train horses and worked with them for 6 years when I lived in Montana.

A little bit about me

Hi! I’m a CPR-certified mom to a 2-year-old daughter and I’m looking for a family that’s open to a nanny mom setup where my daughter can come with me. I genuinely enjoy being around kids and creating a calm, fun, home-like environment for them instead of just sitting inside all day.

I enjoy age-appropriate outdoor activities, parks, reading, learning through play, and engaging children in fun everyday activities, snack/lunch prep, and little adventure days. I also enjoy teaching younger kids simple things throughout the day like colors, shapes, counting, phonics, letters, and basic learning through play and everyday activities.

I’m naturally patient, nurturing, and very used to caring for toddlers full-time. I’d love to find a family that likes the idea of their child having companionship, outdoor experiences, learning, and a more warm and engaging environment throughout the day.

"Lidi has been helping me with my 9 months old and 2 years old regularly as a babysitter for a few months and she is the best. She takes the kids outside, to music class, to museums, many explore activities, and also draws with them, reads, play, and makes them meals, etc. she’s always in time, very tidy, and needs very little direction on finding activities. My kids love playing and spending time with her."

How to Hire a Nanny in San Francisco, CA

Nanny Lane is an easy-to-use website that helps families find experienced local nannies in San Francisco. Simplify your nanny search and find your perfect nanny today. Our services include background checks, nanny contracts, and nanny payroll.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in San Francisco, CA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

San Francisco Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in San Francisco? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in San Francisco?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in CA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
