Hire a nanny in Merced, CA

A little bit about me…
I met and started helping at the time a family of three and stayed with them until April 2024 . Helping with all three of their kids from birth so the parents could work and not have to worry about the Littles.
I DOORDASH for extra money and Thursday through Sunday are my busy days. Monday through Wednesday I've got an open time availability. Which is all flexible. I would prefer to meet the right family and slowly get to know prior to any long term commitment and if all goes well with a full schedule I'd rather not have to do DOORDASH.
I need one paid days to shadow parent , get to know family , learn routine, and take notes myself so their is no mistakes as to what is
expected where things goes and how it works.

A little bit about me…
My name is California, but you can call me Cali. I am a mother of a brilliant 9 year old boy. I spend most of my time homeschooling him, working part-time, gardening, and hiking.
I plan to go back to college eventually to finish getting my teaching degree (science) and minor in child development. I help run a local "Wild and Free" co-op in the Merced area, where children can learn everyday life skills in a natural setting.
I know, as a parent myself, how hard it can be to trust someone with your child and how hard it can be to find someone reliable. I would like to provide that security for parents when they leave their children in my care.
Thank you for your time!

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Merced, CA
Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.
Merced Nanny Interviews
Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:
- Do you have experience being a nanny?
- How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
- What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
- Are you open to a live in arrangement in Merced? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
- Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
- Do you have any references?
- Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Merced?
- Do you have a driver’s license in CA? Do you own a car?
- What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
- What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?
During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny
Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
