A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Veronica, I’m 25 yo and I’m from Brazil. I’m an Aupair in NY (2 years with the same family), and I will move to Tampa on January 12th. When I came to this house the little boy was 10m and the girl 1y and 10m. I do have experience whit potty and food training (because of my sister I also have experience with sleep training). On our day we like to read, color, play outside, and study Portuguese.
I have a brother (22yo) and a sister (10yo) both are autistic and my sister also has ADHD, I’ve been taking care of her since she was born, so I have experience with all the new born, toddler, and infant phases. I understand and know how to deal with children on the spectrum.
I’m a bachelor in International Relations, my first language is Portuguese, but I speak English, and Spanish, and I can understand Italian.
I love animals.

Recent reference

"Veronica is amazing! She took care of our two littles during the height of Covid. They were 10 months and 22 months when she came on board. They are now turning 3 and 4. She’s very kind, creative, responsible, timely, flexible and neat. She does not sit on her phone nor place the kids in front of the tv. She interacts, does arts and crafts, gets the kids outside and cooks. She is eager to please the children she cares for while keeping a good routine and setting limits. She is the #1 person responsible for potty training both kids. I would highly recommend Veronica to anyone, anywhere! She will take amazing care of your kiddos!!!"

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Tampa, FL

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Tampa Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Tampa? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Tampa?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in FL? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
