A little bit about me
I'be been a full time nanny for two children for the past 4 years. I will be leaving them very soon as they will no longer need me. I'm working full-time mainly with the 4 year old I've taken care of her since she was born and in the last year only part time with the 6 year old as he is in school part of the day. Which I am in charge of drop off and pick up. I've taken a class in child development and a teaching class through my high school back in 2015. I also completed a babysitting course threw Red Cross.
I have experience with multiple children at once. I also have infant experience both professional and personal. I am a non-smoker and have a car and clean driving record. I drive the kids I currently watch a lot to the zoo, children's museum, omsi, oaks park, swimming, parks, and classes.
I've also done over night care as well while both parents were out of town.
My current job will be ending soon due to the fact that both kids will be in preschool and elementary school full time and I would only be needed for an hour so sadly I am leave my current family and am looking to start with a new family and helping out. I'm looking for full time ideally.
About me
I enjoy reading and one day want to write a book. I love going to the park and zoo. I love photography. I'm the oldest child in my family. I have been babysitting since I was 13. I'm big fan of the outdoors and enjoy camping when I can. I also love to do arts and crafts (Pinterest is great) and sensory activities. I enjoy working with children and watching then grown and learn to discover the world around them.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Portland, OR
Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.
Portland Nanny Interviews
Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:
- Do you have experience being a nanny?
- How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
- What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
- Are you open to a live in arrangement in Portland? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
- Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
- Do you have any references?
- Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Portland?
- Do you have a driver’s license in OR? Do you own a car?
- What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
- What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?
During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny
Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
