Years of childcare experience5 yrs of experience

I have 5 years of childcare experience, and an excellent reputation with parents for my ability to engage children, professionalism, and overall knowledge of childcare.

As an artist and musician who grew up in a teaching family, I learned a variety of tips and tricks for getting children to want to learn. As an example, I use musical terms to teach children about indoor and outdoor voices like pianissimo (very soft) for when someone is sleeping, and how fortissimo (very loud) is only for playing outside. I'm always a favorite when it comes to reading as well because years of voice training for music have paid off so that I can do a variety of voices and sounds to make things more interesting. As for arts and crafts, I have spent several years helping 3 of my own significantly younger siblings a variety of ways by making numbered pictures to color, encouraging them to keep trying simply because they enjoy it, and teaching them techniques that improve confidence as well as fine motor skills. I'm also always up for a walk to the park to play catch!

As for how I work in coordination with parents, one set that I've worked with very closely over the last two year are first time parents, and I have gotten a lot of practice troubleshooting everything from separation anxiety to difficulty brushing teeth to allergy concerns. I have experience with coordinating care of sick children as well, from allergies to burn treatment, and a good working knowledge of medicine due to previous plans to enter the medical field. If there are any concerns about the children I work with, I have no problem setting aside time to help at no charge, even on days off, because their health and happiness is my first concern. With that being said, I would be more than happy to help out with laundry, light housekeeping, and anything necessary in the kitchen as well because I love to cook so much that I nearly went into culinary arts.
Mal A. - Seeking Work in Arlington

Years of childcare experience< 1 yr of experience

Hello there! I'm Mal and I am an incoming sophomore at George Mason University.

I have been babysitting since the age of 12 and given that I'm the oldest child of my family, I started by watching my younger brothers and then began to expand to outside of the house for children of relatives and kids in my neighborhood. Over the last few years, I've worked primarily with infants and toddlers, but I truly love kids of all ages. I am known to be well organized and highly responsible while also being responsive and flexible towards the varying needs of children in diverse stages of their development.

Some fun facts about me include: I can read, write, and speak in three languages―English, Amharic, and intermediate French, as well as, in my free time, I enjoy reading, cooking, and baking.

I look forward to working with you!

We're looking for a nanny share with our second child due April 2019. We'd like another baby around the same age. We'd probably begin the share around July 2019. Our nanny has been with us for over a year. She speaks Spanish and English with our child, and is a loving and hardworking caregiver. Janeth has a car to drive to activities in the cold or rain, but she usually takes long walks and goes to the nearby library and park. We're looking for a full-time share but are willing to consider part-time. Our 2 year old will be starting preschool and so the share will be primarily for the newborns. We live a couple blocks from Alcova Heights Park. We have a great set up with a playroom in the basement and another playroom next to the kitchen. We have tons of books and toys and separate rooms for our baby and yours for naps. Our nanny is always ready for more hours but currently arrives at 8:30 am and leaves when we get home (between 4:30pm and 7pm).

Mostafa is a wonderful nanny. He loves kids and has a special gift with him. He is flexible and hard working. He takes the kids to events, zoo, parka, library, etc. He also helps out with minor cleaning. My hours are changing next year and I would love to keep him if possible. We completed a criminal report and he was clear. If interested, please let me know.

Very loving and fun kids. We have a six-year-old boy, who would not need the nanny, and a one and a half-year-old girl. We are expecting our third baby in September. To transition our daughter prior to the third baby coming we wanted to start nannying services earlier. Nanny not hired yet but has been interviewed and is awesome! Likely set to start in August or September. Looking for family with ideally only one child needing care. Rate would be $10/hr for other family but we are flexible with when the second family can start. Ideally 40hrs a week. Thanks!
