I believe children though little, have their personalities and are usually more intelligent than we adults estimate them to be. I try as much as possible to bond with them in their own little world of intelligence. I love to teach them and help them understand that they are of inestimable value and they can make a positive difference in the world. I believe education starts from home so I make sure the kids are exposed to educational materials and programs for their appropriate age. I also love to take them out to interact with other kids of their age grade. But most of all, I follow the directions and instructions of the parents in catering for their kids. Experience: Child Care Services –December 2008- October 2012 • Care giver for family with a 3 kids, now ages 7, 5 and 22 months • Assisted with potty training, bathing and dressing • Driving children to and from school, gymboree sessions and all other sport activities • Prepared and served breakfast and lunch, also packaged healthy snacks for school lunches • Played with the children and took them to walks, the playground and to play dates • Read to the children, tutored them in math and spelling. • Carried out daily care activities to meet the children’s physical and emotional needs • Intervened when disagreements arose and disciplined when necessary Achievements: The kids, seven and five respectively have the ability to read excellently well, spell words, add and subtract numbers, write sentences and are well mannered. They also got the highest number of awards in their respective classes. The youngest one, who is 22 months can recite and identify alphabets A-Z, and count numbers 1-10. Due to my proactive nature and my desire for outstanding performance concerning the kids, I use out of pocket expenses to get materials like books and educational toys without reimbursement.

I worked at a childcare center throughout high school where I literally watched some of those kids grow up before my eyes. I would teach, play along with, and take care of about 5-10 children at a time, primarily ages 1-4. Throughout high school I also took babysitting opportunities when they came, usually if a friend referred me to a family. For example, I once took a 2 week nanny position watching 2 sets of twins while a family moved into their new house. I also have a huge Irish family with a lot of older cousins, for which I have grown up as the go-to babysitter! I worked with a family that I found on Nannies4hire for about a year, (until I left for my current job), where I cared for a 16 month old, and a 7 year old, while taking care of cleaning and such around the house during the day.

I have been babysitting for multiple families with multiple children (infant to preteen) for over 10 years now. While still in college, I was a health and fitness leader as well as an inclusion leader for summer camps, working with grades 1-6. Immediately after college, I facilitated therapeutic recreation for children ages 5-9 with developmental disabilities, also through Fairfax County. During that time, I was also the attendant for a 7 year old boy with autism who required feeding and diaper changes. Since January of 2010, I have been a full time nanny for two boys. The older one is currently 9 and the younger one is 5. The 5 year old has a devopmental delay and has speech, physical, occupational, and horse therapy every week. I have become a part of their family and will be very sad to part with them when they relocate to North Carolina.

Most recently, I was a PCA for a young man with autism and hydrocephalus. I worked with him off and on(due to moving out of state) for 3 years and still remain very close with the family and the young man. My job required time management and plenty of patience. I helped him off the bus after school and made sure all homework was completed. He did not feel comfortable in most public situations, so I had to keep a close eye for situations that might have been too stimulating to handle. I helped teach him basic functions like dressing himself, brushing his teeth, money management etc. Additionally, I was a PCA for a young man with muscular dystrophy. I accompanied him to college classes and was essentially his hands for any projects that required the use of hands. I assisted him with eating, using the restroom, and all other basic functions. I also remain quite close with him and his family at present. Both may be contacted for reference.

We're looking for a nanny share with our second child due April 2019. We'd like another baby around the same age. We'd probably begin the share around July 2019. Our nanny has been with us for over a year. She speaks Spanish and English with our child, and is a loving and hardworking caregiver. Janeth has a car to drive to activities in the cold or rain, but she usually takes long walks and goes to the nearby library and park. We're looking for a full-time share but are willing to consider part-time. Our 2 year old will be starting preschool and so the share will be primarily for the newborns. We live a couple blocks from Alcova Heights Park. We have a great set up with a playroom in the basement and another playroom next to the kitchen. We have tons of books and toys and separate rooms for our baby and yours for naps. Our nanny is always ready for more hours but currently arrives at 8:30 am and leaves when we get home (between 4:30pm and 7pm).

Very loving and fun kids. We have a six-year-old boy, who would not need the nanny, and a one and a half-year-old girl. We are expecting our third baby in September. To transition our daughter prior to the third baby coming we wanted to start nannying services earlier. Nanny not hired yet but has been interviewed and is awesome! Likely set to start in August or September. Looking for family with ideally only one child needing care. Rate would be $10/hr for other family but we are flexible with when the second family can start. Ideally 40hrs a week. Thanks!

What are some common responsibilities for nannies in Arlington, VA?

As a parent, it’s natural for you to ask your nanny for a little extra help around the house. However, the boundaries for a nannies duties vary from person to person. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met. This includes things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active, that they have a healthy diet and a sanitary home. Take your nanny out one of Arlington’s great restaurants, learn about their childhood, and discuss your parenting philosophy. Finally, be sure to resolve conflicts as they arise. Open communication is crucial to ensuring a healthy long-term relationship.
