A little bit about me
I completed the Early Childhood Education program at MATC in 2011. In the program, I completed four practicums, student teaching in daycare centers. With each practicum, my skills and abilities as a childcare provider advanced and prepared me for my career in childcare.
Upon graduating, I was offered a Lead Teaching position. I have been the Lead Teacher in the 2-year-old classroom for 7 years, and have enjoyed working with the younger ages. As the Lead Teacher, my responsibilities include: designing a structured daily routine, planning activities centered around arts, music, reading, math, letter recognition, and dramatic play. Each activity is designed to aid in the development of gross motor, fine motor, social, psychological, and self help skills. In addition to the daily activities, I am also responsible for assisting with meal times and nap/rest time. While working with 2-year-olds, I have also become very knowledgeable in strategies for successful potty training!
Throughout my education and work experience, I have worked with children with special needs including: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and ADHD. I am CPR Certified, SBS (shaken baby syndrome) certified, SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) certified and have taken the child abuse and neglect class. I have also taken classes about children with differing abilities. Feel free to ask any other questions.
