Part-Time Nanny Job: The Bell Poteat Family with 4 Children
Hi! We're the Poteats — a busy, blended family of eight living in Candler, NC. We're looking for someone who wants to become a real partner to our family long-term, not just fill a role. If you're the kind of person who likes being needed, thrives in a little chaos, and wants to feel like part of our family - keep reading!
The Role:
I'm a full-time working mom of six kids (ages 5 to 16) and I need a right-hand person to help me manage our household. This is part household assistant, part childcare, part "help me keep all the plates spinning." The role is up to 30 hours/week at $25/hour to start, with room to grow.
Proposed Schedule:
Monday through Friday,[phone number hidden] PM. Mondays and Tuesdays are the most important days for after-school coverage. The midday hours (12–3) are for staying ahead of the house — and then when kids start getting home, it shifts to pickups, homework help, snacks, and keeping the afternoon on track.
Household Side (12 – 3ish):
-Light housekeeping — keeping common areas picked up, dishes, wiping down kitchens and bathrooms
-Laundry — washing, folding, putting away (with 8 people, the laundry never ends)
-Organizing — kids' rooms, pantry, mudroom, closets, the random pile that appears on the counter every 48 hours
-Meal prep — prepping ingredients, getting a crockpot going, packing lunch supplies
-Errands — grocery pickup, returns, dropping things off at school (we have a family minivan you're welcome to use)
After-School Side (3:30 – 5:30):
-School pickups and drop-offs
-Homework supervision and help
-Snacks, activities, and keeping the after-school tornado contained
-Driving kids to practices or activities as needed
About Us:
Both parents work full-time — one in-office, one from home with occasional travel. Our house is lively, two labradoodles, and there's always something going on. We're easygoing and not looking for perfection — just someone dependable who takes initiative and genuinely wants to be part of how our family runs.
