A little bit about us

Hello! Mommy of 2, Im looking to go back to the work field and due to no village it’s just my fiancé and I working around each others schedule . We are looking for someone part time to help with our kids 3 days out of the week/after school hours: Tue , Wed & every other Thursday. Pick up 1 child from school at 1:30 but be there around 1:15 for parking. School is 3 blocks up the street(: Our oldest gets dropped off by bus in front of house around 2:45. So a little about our kids, Aiden is our 7 year old who is on the Autism spectrum (lvl 2) he is semi nonverbal, he does say some words / signs for help, more, all done and understands what you’re saying but mainly will hand lead to things he wants or brings to you, he does his own thing every here and there , he does have his own iPad loves watching youtube kidz (sesame street, bear in the big blue house, mickey mouse , plays Roblox) loves doing puzzles together, enjoys sensory toys/bubbles or playing crash bandicoot on xbox, if he is feeling nice enough you'll get a turn every here and there haha. He uses the toilet on his own just when going number 2 he needs a little help wiping his behind so it’s being on stand by or he also calls for help .. Alonzo is our 6 yr old, he is about his hot wheels race tracks, playing the Nintendo switch and watching some movies on the tv (Mario, loud house, hey Arnold) or other shows he will have u look up and down on the category section lol) He is also a little speech delayed but he is easier to understand and help when needed. I usually leave food ready or easy meals to reheat / snacks. We do live in an apartment, door locks/chains have to be on at all times since Aiden tries to open doors (no sense of danger) but other than that we are looking for someone responsible, patient, trustworthy, and that doesn't mind clingy kids, updates me when they ate or just on how they are doing (brings me peace of mind) preferably someone with autism experience/ special needs. thank u in advance

What Are After-School Nanny Jobs?

After-school nanny jobs are part-time positions that cover weekday afternoons, usually from school pickup until early evening. They fit nannies who want a regular schedule, students, and people with other commitments in the morning.

Types of After-School Nanny Jobs and Responsibilities

Typical duties include school or bus-stop pickup, snacks, homework help, activities and lessons, and sometimes dinner. Some jobs include a few mornings or school holidays too. Check the school pickup time, the days per week, and whether driving is required.

How to Interview for After-School Nanny Jobs

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is a nanny job interview. Here are some questions you should ask:

  • What time is school pickup, and which days do you need care?
  • Will I drive, and is a car seat or vehicle provided?
  • How do you handle early dismissals and school holidays?
  • What are the children's activities and routines?
  • Is dinner or light housekeeping part of the job?

Beyond asking these questions, families will want you to have your nanny references ready and ask any questions to show initiative. The nanny job interview is an excellent opportunity to get aligned on the nanny job expectations. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
