I'm from Key West, Florida and after nearly three years in Paris studying I moved to Brooklyn to complete my Kundalini yoga teacher training. I aspire to become a Montessori preschool teacher and teach to young children. I have nannied on and off for the past four years both girls and boys between the ages of six months to seven years. I am positive, hard-working, friendly, love to make people smile, always on time, an excellent multi-tasker and genuinely give nothing less than my very best. Growing up I traveled constantly with my family. Being exposed to so many cultures, languages, and cuisines fostered a passion for various ethnic foods and cooking within me. My family split our time between rural Montana, Florence, Italy, and New York but home base was the small island community of Key West, Florida. It was not Swiss Family Robinson by any means but we were quite self-sufficient. Our yard was filled with tropical fruit trees, my father took us lobstering and spear-fishing often, as a family we maintained a garden and compost, as well as kept chickens. (I am ALL ABOUT locally sourced food.) I would love to cook beautiful, healthy and delicious meals for your children and especially am knowledgeable in vegetarian cuisine. As well as a huge food enthusiast, I would be able to relate to your children on a genuine level. Fostering curiosity, wonder and imagination while establishing loving boundaries for them to grow within as well as engaging them in educational and creative activities is what I would strive for. Between Manhattan and Montauk I have been caring for an extremely bright four year-old. Since late spring I've been responsible for said four year old's daily routine, creating simple healthy meals, setting up play dates, and engaging him in educational and creative activities. I've also traveled out to the Hamptons with him and his father typically every weekend during summer. I'm extremely comfortable traveling with a family and also very flexible. Sadly his mother is moving to Miami and will be taking him with her. Privately employed Paris, France January 2010-January 2012 (Nanny) Cared for two girls, starting at the ages of six months and four years. I was responsible for their daily routine, bringing girls back and forth between two households, teaching them to speak, read, and write in English, engaging them in creative projects (we would paint or do a craft twice a week.) I traveled extensively throughout Europe with family. Privately employed Key West, Florida January 2008- August 2009 (Nanny) After school and weekend live-in nanny to siblings ages four and six. Originally started as a babysitting job when the children were younger but the family found they were in need of a nanny and I took on more responsibility. Picking the children up from school, bringing them to and from activities, engaging them in educational, nature oriented activities, cooking primarily vegan and vegetarian food, traveling when needed with family.

As a person who has always been around children and has had the knowledge of caring for children since the majority of my family members were early childhood and elementary school teachers I have always had the eternal passion and love for taking care of children. This is why I feel it has been within my nature to also be in the child care field. I love to work with children because it is such a rewarding experience for me. It has always brought me such fulfillment to know that I can help mold and shape the minds and attitudes of of young children. I gives me great pleasure to observe how each child learns and grows differently socially, emotionally, and academically. It also makes me intrinsically happy to know in some way I may have had an impact with their development. I love to enrich the lives of children and help them reach their life long goals. I have enriched their lives by teaching them self awareness and awareness of the world around them by allowing them to explore and discover with activities and projects. This may be taking them outside to the park to discover nature or reading to them filling them with language and literature. Some of my childcare experiences has been to help not only the children themselves but to work along side their families and or caregivers in helping them understand their child's developmental process. For example, I not not only have helped young toddlers be independent with showing them how to food themselves but to also work with their families as well so that we work hand in hand with one another as a team so the child gets the most out of their learning experiences. I feel the parent teacher/educator/nanny should have a very strong bond between each other. I have had this strong bond being in the classroom as a teacher well as outside the classroom when I was in any child'd care. feel I have been a true role model to my profession as an educator and a childcare worker.

Hello my name is Lorie and I am devoted, caring, patient and trustworthy. I have 5 years of experience with working hands on with children. At first I was my own back up care and I was just doing it because I love it. I would volunteer. I decided to take it further and took a class for a year with special needs and autistic children to see how they communicate. Then I took two years of a teaching course to test the waters. I know I want to work with children I just didn't know how. I spent two year in learning to communicate with children. I had two trials where I went into a school to teach a class for a day. My first year kindergarteners and my second year first graders. I realize I would like to take care of children. I decided to become a nanny. I joined a back-up care service where I worked as on an call nanny. I worked with many children, different age groups and some days many children at once. But the ages I've worked with were between newborn to 10 years old children. I had many newborn cases where I would prepare meals on a timely matter and kept the baby clean and on schedule. I met my next job through the back up care service. The family was having nanny problems. They saw how I was with their daughter and how her daughter immediately bonded with me. They thought their daughter was sick because its not like her. She wouldn't even do that with her grandmother the mother told me. So later on when they hired a new nanny but was not working out again they wanted to hire me. I went through the same interview process like every other nanny would and was hired. My main job was to be their daughter caregiver. I also had other responsibilities like housekeeping, preparing meals for their daughter, her laundry, and making sure that her room was kept clean. I always made sure that the house is left the way a meet it or better. However my job came to an end because the mother was missing her daughter to much. she want to stay home with her daughter. They explained to me that they didn't want to let me go because I was their best nanny and that it was so hard but she was not happy at her job. I believe that I am a great fit for you and I am very flexible with my schedule. I'm ok with late days or last minute calls. I can do pick-up and drop-offs, errands, and grocery shopping. I am also great at fallowing a schedule, rules and regulations. I actually prefer a schedule. CPR, AED and first aid certified.
