A little bit about us

Hi!
My husband and I are looking for a nanny for our 2 year old, Noah. We're looking for someone who would be available Mondays and Wednesdays 10-1, and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 to 4:30.

Noah's first language is french, though he does understand some English. Our preference would be for a french speaker.

Thank you!

A little bit about us

I will be relocating from Mexico with my 3yo son to study a PhD starting in September 2022. I do not have a definite schedule and therefore, am still uncertain about the amount of time that I will need assistance to care for my son, as well as all of my options. I can anticipate that I will be needing assistance Monday through Friday and maybe some weekends. My son is shy and highly sensitive and responds well to a calm and affectionate temperament. I am also worried about the language barrier because he only speaks and understands Spanish and therefore, it would be very helpful to find someone that speaks English and at least basic Spanish. I would like for someone to spend a few hours a day with him to care for him and take him to activities with other children to help him socialize and learn the language. Thank you for your consideration!

A little bit about us

Our 18mo son is an active toddler who loves books, trucks, birds and slides. We're biased, but we think he's pretty great. We are seeking a loving, energetic, long-term nanny to join our family starting 7/1, 8/1 or 9/1. Primary responsibility would be childcare, but please also be willing to help with family laundry, light meal prep and local errands (no house cleaning). Household work is minimal and you would have ample downtime every day - we know how tiring it can be to care for a toddler! Must be a non-smoker, CPR certified (or willing to become certified), Spanish speaking and able/willing to get the covid vaccine. We are a warm family and good/fair employers who offer a competitive salary and generous benefits. We look forward to hearing from you!

What Are Bilingual Nanny Jobs?

Bilingual nanny jobs are positions where speaking a second language is a valued part of the role. Families may want their children to learn a language, keep up a language spoken at home, or communicate with a grandparent or relative. Your language skills can set you apart from other candidates and may support a higher rate.

Types of Bilingual Nanny Jobs and Responsibilities

Some families want you to speak only the second language with the children, and others want a mix throughout the day. Responsibilities can include childcare, meals, activities, and reading and playing in the second language. Jobs can be full-time, part-time, or live-in, so check the schedule and expectations in each posting.

How to Interview for Bilingual Nanny Jobs

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is a nanny job interview. Here are some questions you should ask:

  • Which language do you want me to use, and how often?
  • How fluent do you expect me to be?
  • Do the children already speak the language?
  • Are there other adults in the home who speak it?
  • Is language teaching part of the role, or just everyday conversation?

Beyond asking these questions, families will want you to have your nanny references ready and ask any questions to show initiative. The nanny job interview is an excellent opportunity to get aligned on the nanny job expectations. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
