I have 2 children with one on the way. I have a 2 year girl though that likes to play who will be the focus when I’m working and an 8 year old who gets picked up and dropped off at school. I work from home and I want to incorporate someone who can run my household as efficiently as I run my business. This is a long term commitment, and I take care of those who take care of me.

A little bit about us

Busy, traveling family with 3 sweet girls and a lovable Aussie pup. We live in a beautiful home on the intercostal in Clearwater with a large private, staff apartment with water views. Essentially, the duties of this job are that of a stay at home mom. Must have an “at service” willingness to make this single mom’s life easier and run as smooth as possible.

Hours; 40-50 per week
Mon-Thurs: 9 hrs (split day)
Fri: 6am-8am + (flex) (guaranteed evenings off)
Sat: As Needed (guaranteed every other off)
Sun: 6:30pm-8:30pm (as needed, particularly only when traveling)

Additional compensation for weeks over 40 hrs.

Example of daily schedule on school days;

6am-7am Get kids ready for school (make breakfast, clean up, facilitate punctuality)
7am-8:30am round trip commute to school
2:15pm-8:30pm pickup from school, make dinner, vacuum, clean up kitchen, homework help, etc

*On days mom drives (frequently) errands and household duties will take place of commute hours.

Household duties include;
-Cooking (for the kids a must, for the family, bonus!)
-Laundry, ironing, folding
-Organizing Closets
-Packing/Unpacking
-Cleaning bathrooms
-Vacuuming & mopping
-Cleaning kitchen
-Dusting
-Identifying what needs to be done and doing it without being told
-Errands

Flexibility with schedule and daily tasks is paramount as the family travels frequently and has changing schedules, however the children’s schedules stay the same. The kids are with their father every other weekend (return Sun 6:30pm) and every Friday after school until Saturday midday.

As important as the childcare duties are, as is caring for the family dog (Australian Shepard) while the family is away. This role requires a “must love dog’s” attitude and full responsibility to care for her on your off hours/days.

Occasional date nights require live-in to be responsible for the children during sleep/off hours in case of emergency.

Qualities;
Happy
Positive
Patient
Self-Starter
Safe Driver
Detail-Orientated

Types of House Manager/Nanny Jobs and Responsibilities

Duties may include meal planning, laundry, errands, scheduling, and coordinating other household help, alongside caring for the children. Some roles are mostly childcare with a few household tasks, and others are mostly management. Check how the time is split, the hours, and the pay for the combined duties.

How to Interview for House Manager/Nanny Jobs

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is a nanny job interview. Here are some questions you should ask:

  • How is time split between childcare and household tasks?
  • Which household tasks are included, and which are not?
  • Will I manage or coordinate other staff or contractors?
  • How is pay set for the combined role?
  • Is there a written job description?
