What Are Summer Nanny Jobs?

Summer nanny jobs are seasonal positions that cover the school break, from a few weeks to the whole summer. They suit teachers, students, and nannies who like seasonal work or want to try a new family. Many families look for summer help early in the year.

Types of Summer Nanny Jobs and Responsibilities

Summer jobs can be full-time or part-time, and some include travel to a vacation home or trips with the family. Responsibilities often focus on activities, outings, meals, and keeping children engaged, sometimes alongside camps and classes. Check the start and end dates and hours in each posting so they fit your plans.

How to Interview for Summer Nanny Jobs

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is a nanny job interview. Here are some questions you should ask:

• What are the start and end dates, and are they firm?
• How many hours a week, and does that change during camps or vacations?
• What activities and outings do you want me to plan?
• Will I need to drive, and is a car provided?
• Is there any travel with the family?

Beyond asking these questions, families will want you to have your nanny references ready and ask any questions to show initiative. The nanny job interview is an excellent opportunity to get aligned on the nanny job expectations. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
