Hi, I'm Abby Buras! I'm 29 years old and was born and raised in Louisiana. Childcare has been my passion since high school, when I spent my summers volunteering as a camp counselor and babysitting for family, friends, and neighbors. That love for kids turned into a career. I've spent years caring for children at a preschool, working with infants through school-age kids and growing my patience, creativity, and understanding of child development along the way.

I love keeping kids active, curious, and engaged! I enjoy imaginative play like dress-up, building forts, and pretend games that spark creativity, as well as incorporating music and dancing into the day. I also love helping with homework or early learning skills like letters, numbers, and reading. Whether it's a calm afternoon of quiet play or a high-energy day outside, I love tailoring activities to each child's interests and helping them learn and grow while having fun.

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me, the most important part of being a nanny is earning a family's trust and making their child feel safe, loved, and valued every single day. Children thrive when they have consistency, patience, and someone who genuinely listens to them, and I try to bring that to every interaction, big or small. Just as important is open, honest communication with parents. I believe a strong nanny-family relationship is built on transparency, reliability, and treating their children with the same care and attention I'd want for my own family. Being a nanny isn't just a job to me, it's a responsibility I take seriously, and I always strive to be someone parents can fully rely on and children genuinely look forward to seeing.

My experience with special needs children...

I have meaningful, hands-on experience caring for a special needs child through helping my younger sister, who is significantly younger than me and has special needs. I have played a large role in her care throughout her life and continue to today. This experience has taught me patience, adaptability, and how to communicate in ways that meet each child where they are. I've also had the opportunity to work with special needs children through my time at the preschool, which has strengthened my ability to create a supportive, inclusive environment for children of all abilities. I approach every child as an individual, and I'm committed to providing the same love, structure, and attentive care that I give my own sister to any child I'm entrusted with.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moments are the simple, everyday ones. Getting a child to break into a big smile or laugh, whether it's from a silly joke, a funny face, or just being goofy together, is such a great feeling. And just as often, it goes both ways — kids have a way of making me laugh just as much as I make them laugh! Those little moments of shared joy are what I love most about caring for children. They remind me that childcare isn't just about keeping kids safe and cared for, it's about building real bonds and making everyday moments fun. I try to bring that same laughter and warmth into every family I work with.
