More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have mostly been a nanny for children ages 5-9 with working parents. However, my favorite child-care experiences have been over several summers when I was fortunate enough to be a camp counselor for special needs children.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love helping children with school work, especially elementary math and high school chemistry. I am also a classically trained singer and have helped children who have participated in talent shows and other productions. I’ll admit I am very uncoordinated with a ball, but I have assisted children in practicing for softball and basketball tryouts, and it’s always been fun.
While helping kids learn and practice various skills is my favorite, I’m also a fan of playing board games and party games, playing make-believe with the little ones, and watching movies together.

The most important part about being a nanny...
A nanny has to be compassionate and patient, not just for children, but for parents as well.
My experience with special needs children...
I spent a few summers as a camp counselor at special needs camps for both adults and children where I would feed, bathe, etc. the low-functioning campers. The majority of them had autism, OCD, or ODD, and many were nonverbal.
I have also nannied and tutored an elementary schooler with dyslexia and a middle schooler with severe ADHD and an auditory processing disorder. While I am by no means claiming to be an expert, with some research into these learning disabilities, and by working hand-in-hand alongside the children, I helped them to achieve A’s in classes they were formerly falling far behind in.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I can’t choose just one, but I truly cherish any teaching moment I can have with children. I love seeing them become proud and confident as they discover how to do something new or feel themselves improving in something, whether it’s school, a sport, or even a video game they just happen to love. It’s important for them to feel proud and confident about their hobbies and skills, and it’s wonderful when I get to help them get there.
