A little bit about me

I am 21 years old and a junior at Bridgewater State University and I am a double major in elementary education and childhood studies. I have brief nanny experience for a family with three children. I have four years of experience working at a laboratory school in the Early Childhood Education program at GNBVT where I engaged in Skills USA. I have taught over 20 students from the ages of 3-5.

I have worked in a daycare setting with multiple ages ranging from 6 months to school age. I am certified in Massachusetts as an Early Childhood Preschool teacher and I hope to continue my experience.

I have worked as a summer camp specialist for the YMCA and have worked with ages 6-12 and have managed to create enrichment projects for students.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Prior to graduating high school, I had field experience for a year working at Quinn Elementary School as a student teacher.

I attended Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Tech School and excelled in my early childhood shop for three years, where I participated in SkillsUSA.

I was taught how to lesson plan, engage in developmentally appropriate free play, and fostered creativity with games, books, puppets, and more!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy creating sensory activities for children to reduce stress such as departure from parents. I enjoy free play during infant care as they are now learning the world! I enjoy free play through toddler years as it builds socialization skills.

Activities change based on developmentally appropriate practice. For example, I would include chalk and bubbles for younger children to engage in activities with their outside world to help build gross motor skills. I emphasize fun and learning at the same time! Self-guided play is the way I love to engage with children! They teach us along the way.

As a student teacher, I worked closely with four neurodivergent children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment during my care of children is when one child in my pre-k class excitedly told me she did not have to bring her stuffed animal to her "big girl class." She was so excited to show me that she has "grown up."

Another moment is when a child commented on my new hair cut and came to school the next week with the same hair cut! She explained, "I wanted to look like you!"
