I’ve worked with children for about 7 years, but I’ve been babysitting for around 3 or 4 years. I have two young nieces whom I would watch, and I am currently babysitting a 10 year old girl and a 5 year old boy!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love arts and crafts. I think it is extremely fun with littles and as long as the mess is cleaned up and they had fun, I would say it is successful. I also love the outdoors, I believe it is important for kids to be outside! Baking and cooking (safely of course) are also things I enjoy doing with children. Getting the kids involved in anything that I can is something that I love. Singing and dancing parties are also very fun!
My experience with special needs children...
My best friend’s younger sister is special needs. She is such a delight, and whenever she has her moments I try to help navigate them as best as possible. I’ve also helped out with the nature needs classes at my middle and high school, and I have learned to navigate a lot of situations.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think my favorite moment has been whenever one of the girls I’ve watched has had a rough day and she told me that my hug was the only thing that would make her day better. I remember going home with a full heart because that was so kind of her to say.
