I’m Addie, and I teach outdoor science to kids at Keystone Science School. It’s my favorite thing to do, so I’m looking for nanny work in the off-season to keep spending time with kids. What I enjoy most is getting to know each one: what they’re into, how they think, what they ask about. I’m comfortable meeting kids where they are, whether that’s a shy one who needs a minute to warm up or a high-energy one who needs somewhere to put it. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I started out babysitting growing up, and I’m still the go-to for my 6 nieces and nephews. I got into outdoor education at YMCA of the Rockies and now work at Keystone Science School as a lead instructor. Being a teacher means I’m used to adapting to different ages, personalities, and energy levels, often all in the same group. It’s also made me patient and quick on my feet, and I’m good at turning downtime into something fun and worthwhile, whether that’s a project, a game, or a walk outside.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Being outside is my favorite thing to do with kids, and it’s literally my career. I love hikes, exploring creeks and trails, snow days, stargazing, and just seeing what we find. I’m happiest when we’re following a kid’s question, like why the ice looks like that or what animal left those tracks, and figuring out the answer together. When we’re stuck inside, I’m also up for art projects, building things, and games.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny, to me, is letting kids have fun. My job is to keep them safe and cared for, but beyond that, I see myself as the person who makes the fun possible. That might mean setting up the fort, finding the best stick, or just getting out of the way so they can run with their own ideas. A good day is one where the kids were happy, a little muddy, and had a blast.

My experience with special needs children...

I’ve worked with several neurodivergent students through my teaching, and I’ve learned that the key is paying attention to how each kid takes things in. I look for ways to bring them into the conversation and the activity, whether that’s giving them more time, a different way to participate, or a role that plays to their strengths. My goal is always that every kid feels included and is actually enjoying their time, not just getting through it.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Honestly, kids are just hilarious, and that’s a big part of why I love this work. One of my favorites was a girl who had the same name as me and spent a whole afternoon debating who the ‘better’ Addie was. She ruled in my favor because I’d eaten more pizza in my life than she had.
