More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was born and raised in my mother's daycare business/therapeutic foster home, where I worked with children of all ages on a daily basis - helping them reach milestones, encouraging their individual personalities and exploration, helping add enrichment and age-appropriate cognitive stimulation to their daily routine, etc. That experience encouraged my educational growth, leading me to graduate and enroll in university at 16. During my breaks in my educational track, I was a nanny for several families of various sizes and children of multiple ages. Since earning my degree, before I pursue medicine further, I have decided to return to my roots full-time and have worked with three separate families during this time, one with three girls (ages 3 months to 5 years) and a puppy, one with a boy and girl (ages 8 months and 3 years), and one with 15 month old twin boys!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love taking my charge(s) on adventures to playgrounds, the local splash pads and swimming pools, and indoor play spaces such as Marbles, the Notasium, Bumble Brews, and Over the Moon. I love introducing new foods - although I am hyper-aware of allergies, having some of my own - and introducing them to new activities and places that will enrich their days, while also providing a structure that encourages decompression time and routine naps. When we aren't out and about, I love turning every day into a dance party, helping build forts, teaching safe kitchen techniques, etc.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is putting your heart into it. My heart is in my work. I love kids and working with them, watching them grow and find themselves in everyday life and experiences, while keeping them safe and cared for. I am patient and caring, adventurous and outgoing, vibrant and encouraging. I love becoming 'part of the family' and an extension of the parents.

I value trust, honesty, and open communication above all else, as part of your household. I prioritize the safety and health the most, in respect to the children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of the sweetest and most rewarding things I'll ever experience is gaining the trust and affection of one of my charges. The excitement they get when you walk through the door or the extra large hugs they give you before you leave. When they feel comfortable and safe enough to have tried something they previously wouldn't have, like the monkey bars or the rock wall on the playground, because you helped them build that trust with themself and trust in you, knowing you'll be there to walk them through it or help them if something goes wrong. Seeing their personalities grow and they communicate their needs because you help walk them through the difficult and more emotionally difficult times by breaking down the problem and helping them find solutions, or through early sign language learning. I've had a lot of these moments in the past several years and I love every bit of watching their confidence, trust in themselves, and beautiful minds grow.
