A little bit about me

I have been babysitting since I was 12 and been a nanny for various summers. I currently work part time at my church with kids and teenagers. This has given me lots of experience in care for all age groups of kids, as well as kids with disabilities. I also provide respite care for a few families of kids with disabilities. One thing I love about my job at church is that I get to support families in a unique way. It is truly a joy to me to be able to provide some relief to parents who are doing everything they can for their kids but sometimes need a break! Or on the other hand, providing comfort to working parents who want to know their child is being cared for and kept safe, just as they would. In my current part time job, I work mainly with teenagers and I have missed getting to spend time with babies and toddlers. That is why I would love to be a part time nanny to a (or a few) sweet little ones!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked as a substitute teacher for elementary and junior high. I currently work part time at my church with the teenagers but I often help with our children as well. I provide respite care for children with disabilities (mainly Down's Syndrome, but I am also familiar with autism) I have been babysitting for 13 years and have been a nanny several times.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Personally, I love books so it is a joy for me to try to share the love of reading with kids. I am very happy to go and do activities outside of the house. Anything from a walk around the neighborhood, the park, the library, to something more involved like a museum or aquarium is something I am up for. I am also happy to assist parents in taking children to a class or appointment or practice. My main hope would be that whatever the day holds for us, I can encourage the child that we can make the best of it!

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked closely with children who have Autism, Down's Syndrome, and ADHD for many years. I am always open to learning how to best support a child with a different ability. I know every kid is different and so there are new things for me to learn even if I am familiar with a disability. I know that parents of children with disabilities do not always get a lot of support. It would be an honor to provide peace of mind to you that your child is being cared for exactly how you would care for them yourselves.
