I'm the oldest of 5, a Mom , Stepmom, Aunt to 12. I went from FT to part-time at my traditional office job when my oldest was born and continued freelance PR work when I had my second. Overlapping, I watched neighborhood kids, infant nephews, & co-worker's kids. I really enjoyed caregiving and when my second went to all-day school , I decided to Nanny full-time during the school day/year for 2 local college professors. I've been with that family since meeting them in 2014- now afterschool. Overlapping, I cared for the kids of 3 other families in that same close-knit Bristol neighborhood through word of mouth, as well as sitting on several occasions for a family in Barrington.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Years ago, I was lucky enough to work my flexible freelance newsroom/PR schedule around caring for my own kids. I also had close by family to help. I know everyone doesn't have the same options and when I realized that my favorite job was caregiving, I decided to focus on it to maintain control of my time and provide other parents with an option that gives total peace of mind knowing that when their kids aren't with them, they are in the very best, next safest, nurturing, worry-free environment.

One Monday, after many hours in the car coming home from their vacation with the radio on, I was back with J and E... we were walking on the bike path quietly walking, holding hands, spotting bunnies and squirrels, listening to the birds...and 4yo J pauses between animal questions. Looks up, and asks matter of factly - ' why IS it a crime to pay more than a dime?'
And my new favorite, I was walking through downtown Bristol last week with a 2yo and pointing out all the kinds of trucks and construction vehicles driving by. He gestures to a white Cintas box truck and asks what's that - so I say, that truck is probably filled with tablecloths and *uniforms* headed to the restaurants down by the water.
He looks up wide-eyed and asks incredulously... ' Do people eat the *unicorns* at those restaurants?!' 😅
