Neurodivergent children have always seemed to gravitate towards me even as a child. I was often one of the only children that showed them kindness and patience and was legitimately friends with them. Even as a child I showed these children just as much respect and love as any other playmates.

I was driving a seven year old boy I watched home from a park and we were talking and listening to music and suddenly he goes “Alee?” And when I answered “yes?” He goes “I love you,” with this look of content and happiness on his face. It was his first time ever saying I love you to me and it made my day.
