More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I also worked in a K-5 school as the school psychologist intern for one academic year as part of my doctoral program through the University of Utah in the Canyons School District. My duties included Behavior observation, Behavior plan creation, implementation, and management, teaching social and emotional skills, evaluating children for need for special education services, consulting with parents, teachers, and admin, getting approval for Sped services and setting up and managing services.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to combine play with learning for children, both based on a child's specific interests, and also to provide exposure for new learning experiences. Some of my favorite activities have been teaching emotional skills through art projects, nature walks, and yoga poses, teaching social skills with game play, such as board games and scavenger hunts. I also enjoy creating behavior routines and goals for children, collaborating with parents about unique behavior goals specific to their families. I also enjoy including learning and engagement goals that parents have for their children in our daily routines.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have worked as a nanny for 2 summers. Full time for a 10-year-old boy with autism, which included meal prep, driving to activities, creating a behavior plan for task transitioning, and bathing and personal hygiene. My second nanny position was part time with a 7-year-old boy with ADHD and included school pick up, assisting with homework, creating and implementing behavior management routine for on task behavior and timely task completion, cooking and meal prep, structured leisure time, and bath and bedtime nightly routine. The most important and rewarding part of being a nanny for me is being able to implement tools for special needs as well neurotypical children and families so that they have the best opportunity for success during crucial developmental years.

My experience with special needs children...

I have extensive experience working with special needs children and their families. I spent 10 years working at the UC Davis MIND Institute, dedicated to the Medical Investigation of Neurodevelopmental disorders. Working with families and children there sparked my passion for work in this area and led me to apply for a PhD in school psychology. I am currently a doctoral student at the University of Utah, in the dissertation phase of the program. Through this program I have had the privilege of working with children and families with special needs in many different settings. I spent 2 years working in a school-based clinic at the University of Utah, 2 years at the Huntsman Center for Mental Health Autism Clinic, a year in a middle and high school in which I assisted school psychologists and worked as a school psychologist intern for 1 year in an elementary school.
