A little bit about me

I’m a recent graduate from UMass Boston who majored in Psychology and Communication, and I hope to become a Family Psychologist in the future. I enjoy working with youth, as evidenced by my current work experience as a Therapeutic Mentor and Therapeutic Training & Support Specialist at an In Home Therapy program as well as my previous work and volunteer experiences with the Upward Bound TRIO program, the non-profit organization Strong Women, Strong Girls, and the Early Autism Intervention Center at the May Institute, and my research at the Early Minds Lab and Lafayette Kids Lab.

My personal interests include the arts, critical analysis of films, TV shows, and books, and baking. I was raised in sunny Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and I’m eager to share my culture and the Spanish language with those who would like to introduce their children to diverse languages and cultures.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

In my previous internships and volunteer experiences, I have had the opportunity to mentor, guide, and provide care to children from diverse socioeconomic, racial, and ability backgrounds. As a member of the non-profit organization Strong Women, Strong Girls, I mentored 3rd to 5th-grade girls and prepared fun and interactive lessons about role models and core characteristics to prepare them for future success.

Additionally, I interned at the Early Intervention Autism Center at the May Institute in Randolph, where I implemented care and ABA lesson plans for children aged 3 to 6. I was trained in crisis management and assisted in preparing dynamic learning interactions for activities of daily living, such as brushing their teeth, going potty, and feeding themselves.

Lastly, I’ve fulfilled the role of caretaker for infants and toddlers and have experience catering for their needs, whether it may be feeding, entertaining, teaching, or taking care of their hygiene.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy enhancing and helping develop children’s artistic abilities and incredible imagination through drawings, paintings, DIY projects, dancing, and play pretend. I enjoy engaging the kiddos in building Legos, solving puzzles, and playing board games. I’m also a passionate baker and would love to pass down some delicious recipes to make with your little helpers. I also enjoy being outside while it is nice and warm, so going on walks, playing in the backyard, or going to playgrounds is always a fun time with kids.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny for me is establishing a safe and nurturing space where children feel secure and valued. I believe it's crucial to build a strong connection with them, advocating for their needs and well-being at all times. Teaching good habits and values is essential, as it lays the foundation for their future. Additionally, I believe that a great part of our job is to encourage children to be kids—have fun and play without relying heavily on electronics— which fosters creativity and healthy development.

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience working with toddlers diagnosed with Autism at May Institute’s Early Intervention Center in their Randolph location. Through them I received training in ABA services, Safety Care, crisis management, and worked one-to-one with clients by implementing their individualized program. I also collected data and assessed their progress during our sessions.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I fondly remember caring for a 4-year-old who adored bubbles. We often blew bubbles to pass the time while waiting for her parents. One day, I found a bubble machine and immediately thought of her. I got the machine and turned it on for her, and the joy in her eyes, her giggles, and her smiling face as she chased and popped the soapy spheres always reminds me why I love working with children. Their imagination and delight in simple things are truly magnificent and worth protecting.
