I think it's an excellent way to give them opportunities to learn both theoretical basics like math and science, practical skills and coordination, and it has a built-in reward aspect. I also think it's a great opportunity for kids to get to make a bit of a controlled mess with built-in opportunities for building good cleaning habits!
I also adore a good zoo, aquarium, and park trip. Great opportunity for learning about animals, climate, and earth sciences while also giving them fun built-in activities.
