A little bit about me

Hey there! My name is Alexis Browning, and I am currently a first-year student here at Texas Tech! I am majoring in clinical psychology in hopes to one day become a child and family relations psychologist. Throughout High School, I was a Teacher Assistant intern and worked my way up to being a paraprofessional assistant teacher. I have taken multiple classes about professionalism, family diversity, child development, and childcare. Working in the classroom allowed me to see and experience children from every background and taught me to accommodate to each of their individual learning styles, because let's be honest- no two kids are the same! Being that I did work in a classroom environment for three years, I have experience working with children that are kindergarten, first, second and third grade ages (but I am always up for a challenge!). I don't mind helping children with their schoolwork, and tutoring them on topics they may need help in.

Carlsbad Municipal School District, Carlsbad, NM. I was a teacher's assistant in training at Monterrey elementary for first grade, and then transferred to Cottonwood Elementary School for two years as a paraprofessional intern for a second-grade multi-inclusion class.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Reading, studying, playing outside or inside, playing dress up, coloring pictures, doing arts and crafts, and PE like games.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with tons of children who have IEP's or SAT's and feel that i am very accommodating to their needs. However, I have not directly worked with any special needs children.
