The most important part of being a nanny is leading with love and care—creating a safe, nurturing environment where children feel valued, supported, and encouraged to grow. Kids thrive when they know they are genuinely cared for, and that foundation of trust allows them to explore, learn, and develop confidence.
My experience with special needs children...
I have a little brother with high level autism and he’s my favorite person ever! We tend to make sure that he’s doing something different and trying new things all the time so he never feels stuck in a routine.
Although that’s how that works for my brother, we can definitely come to an agreement and a care plan for your child specifically!

The most important part about being a nanny...
The kids at my summer camp found out I was going to the Air Force and they made me all kinds of cards and posters wishing me good luck and all of their parents gave me wonderful gifts and love. I still keep in touch with my kids and love every single one of them!
As far as individual experience, I once went to a piano concert for a 5th grader I was nannying. I made sure he practiced and told him it was okay to mess up so at recital night I’ve never felt more proud!
