A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Aliyah. I’m a 26 year old mother to two precious daughters (ages 4 and 2). Prior to becoming a stay at home mom I was a child care provider to a 2 year old boy for 2 years. Before that I watched two pre teen girls (picking them up from school, dropping them off at practices and staying with them for a few hours in the evenings). I grew up in a family of nine siblings. So, between my experience as a mother, my past experiences as a child care provider and my experience growing up in a large family I find that my ability to be a nurturing attentive person comes second nature. I’m passionate about children learning and experiencing the world through play and prefer to keep screen time to a minimum. I’m happy to do extra things such as dishes and changing over laundry etc.. I’d love to be able to have my girls with me as well but that isn’t a necessity. Looking forward to finding out if I’m a fit for your family!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

My most favorite thing to do with children is get them outdoors!! There is nothing more regulating to a persons nervous system than to spend ample time outside. With the constant stimulation children get between school environments and screens their little bodies could use a daily reset in the great outdoors. I do my best to adopt the “no bad weather” philosophy, meaning rain or shine we’ll do our best to get out by dressing according to the weather. Bundling up in layers, putting on rain suits, or staying hydrated in the heat, I’ll do what’s necessary to let them get plenty of fresh air. If we’re inside, activities such as reading, playdoh, art, and building are my go tos. But paying attention to the child’s individual interests (and age) and tailoring activities around that. My goal is to create environments in which the child’s creativity can run wild with little input from an adult but always with a nurturing presence there ready to direct and guide as necessary.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Observing the individual child’s interest and helping them nurture their strengths. Setting an example of kindness and curiosity towards others and life.

My experience with special needs children...

The little boy I watched was non verbal (as a 2 and 3 year old nearly up to 4). I do not have any special training specifically for special needs but I do have a caring heart and patiences to tend to extra needs.
