A little bit about me

I volunteer at my church on Sundays in the children's care. I work with ages 0 months to 5 years old. I do have experience with children with special needs. I also know the Heimlich. I took a class in high school that taught me many safety procedures in case of a fire. I also took a medical class. I am going to school to get a nursing degree. I want to go into pediatrics. I have class on Monday's, Tuesday's, Wednesday's and Thursday's from 12:30pm to 3:20 pm. I do know a little bit of sign language.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

On rainy days, I will bring little crafts as when I was taking care of my nephew who is three years old, i would bring over washable and child-safe paint, and we would make hand prints on the paper and make them into little people. some other things that we did is make little Christmas ornaments out of salt dough we also made art work. some out door actives we would do is play games such as soccer, ride bikes and play with the sprinklers. If the children are younger then one I would make sure they are safe.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked at a summer camp that had two special needs kids. They where high functioning kids how ever they still needed help one of the children would need help with using the bathroom and the other child could be aggressive at times he would hit the other staff and myself he would kick and act like he was going to stab us. I also volunteer at my church in the nursey the children age from 0-5 years old there is one special need child that is nonverbal he dose not like to be touched but he does know how to use asl and will let us help him when he needs help.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of the children did not know how to ride a bike without training wheels and they told me that she was ready to try to ride her bike without training wheels so we took them off and she fell a couple of times but she eventually got the hang of it and the smile on her face was so big I did record it and sent it to her parents and she showed them as soon as they got home.
