Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have done babysitting for kids of all ages for 7+ years, as well as some nannying. I have also spent many hours in the classroom with elementary students as I pursue my teaching degree.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Reading stories, playing board games or active games, making crafts, and all things imaginative.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Every interaction a child has with an adult can shape how they see themselves or the world around them. My actions as their caretaker have influence in fostering anxiety, criticalness, and lack of engagement, or in nurturing their curiosity, kindness, and well-being.
My experience with special needs children...
I have had experience caring for a couple neurodivergent children in the past. However, I have not had very much experience being the main caretaker for kids with special needs. I am very open to learning though, and I would be intentional to be extremely careful and patient.
The most important part about being a nanny...
This summer, I nannied for a very sweet family with four kids. On my last day watching them, I brought them little illustrated notes, and they designed and drew beautiful personalized bookmarks for me. On that last day, we played some of our favorite games together, listened to the music they had introduced to me, and had a wonderful time. :)
