I was an after-school teacher across CISD for a year, working with elementary and middle schoolers. I also worked in the kidzone area of a gym for 1.5+ years, caring for infants to middle schoolers.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I LOVE games! I am a board/card game collector myself, and I love to play games like connect 4, memory, and jenga with kids! I also love scavenger hunts, even in an area that doesn't seem too assuming from the start, there are always things to find. I love to draw and color and encourage any kind of creativity. Something I see a lot of children enjoy is roleplaying owning a restaurant! I like to help them create their own menu, which incorporates drawing, critical thinking skills, and creativity!

The most important part about being a nanny is being flexible with your teaching skills. No two children are alike, and it's important to know that what works for one child might not work for another, even if the method seems flawless. I believe being able to tailor your approach differently to each individual kid is a crucial step in getting to know them and allowing them to trust you!

I helped one of the first grade babies I worked with learn the difference in writing a Y and writing an X. Watching her connect the dots herself truly made me tear up! I love seeing kids come to conclusions on their own.
