My most recent and relevant experience when caring for children was for LAUSD for 3 years. Unlike my previous jobs in childcare, I built interpersonal relationships with some of the students, especially with those living with disorders or on the spectrum.

Some activities I enjoy doing with children are: crafts, (board) games, storytelling, dancing, outdoor activities such as nature walks or ball games and electronics! However I do like to minimize screen time.

The most important part about being a nanny is consideration. It is important to have compassion, to understand human behavior. Accepting who they are or will become! Other qualities such as: discipline, good nature, and adaptability are quite important too as a nanny.
My experience with special needs children...
I worked with children with special needs for 2 years. Majority were diagnosed as "sped." Some were on the spectrum of autism or/with ADHD.

My favorite nanny moment was having the children prove me wrong! I felt silly, yet delighted! It shows courage. I believe children can teach adults. It is important as adults to take accountability. We all make mistakes!
