A little bit about me

Hello!
My name is Alyssa Cordier, I've been taking care of kiddos my whole life and its my favorite job. I'm currently an early learning center teacher with my First Aid, PED CPR, food safety and sanitation license and Stars/Merit 30hr childcare basics course completed. I work with up to 10 friends in class on a normal day and manage my own weekly curriculum.
I started my childcare journey young watching neighbor hood kids to earn enough for my first car. Then I moved up to my church nursery and helping with the young mothers minestry group. I was an in home caregiver for two years, and now I'm a certified early learning center teacher.
I'm looking to re-enter the private childcare sector as I have found I prefer taking more time to teach and take attention to detail than a center setup allows for. I feel a calling to nurture and care for the ones who need it the most.

My experience with special needs children...

As an in home care provider I worked with a pair of 3 year old nonverbal twins with autism and I worked with a 25year old autistic female with a mental age of 6.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When the skills they have learned help them! I had a toddler in my twos class that would scream over the smallest issues and I worked with her to take deep breathes and name her feelings so we can find the cause and fix the issue without a tantrum. My proud moment was catching her doing her deep breathes and stopping to think before hitting or screaming.
