My experience with special needs children...
During my time at a summer camp, I mainly worked one-on-one with children who have autism. My role involved keeping them calm and focused, ensuring they were using polite words and respectful behavior. I adapted my approach to meet their unique needs, whether that meant adjusting communication styles or providing extra support during activities. I worked closely to make sure they felt safe and comfortable, using techniques that fit their individual needs while encouraging positive behaviors. My goal was always to foster a nurturing environment where they could thrive.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite nanny moments was at summer camp, where kids truly got to be themselves and just enjoy the magic of being kids! I loved seeing their personalities shine as they played, explored, and let loose in a safe, supportive environment. Whether it was running through fields, getting messy with arts and crafts, or giggling uncontrollably during group games, camp was a place where they felt completely free to be wild and silly. Watching them make friends, embrace their unique quirks, and dive headfirst into fun was a joy for me, and it reminded me how wonderful it is to create spaces where kids can just be themselves. Those carefree, happy moments make everything worth it! I wish they can stay kids forever.
