A little bit about me

I am a recent graduate student from Northwest University. I received a Master's in Teaching, with a teaching certificate. I have nannied for over 5 years with children aged 6 months to 11 years. I have also enjoyed serving as a volunteer in the children's room as well as the nursery at my church. Additionally, I am a current substitute for the Puyallup School District, where I lead lessons, manage the classroom, and care for students from prek to 12th grade, with various needs. I have a passion for working with children!

In my free time, I enjoy the outdoors, hiking, camping, and traveling. I also enjoy baking, working out, and spending time with my family and friends!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part of being a nanny is building a relationship with each child. This comes from respect and discipline, as well as creating a safe and warm environment for children. A safe environment would make children feel cared for and seen as individuals. I want them to see me as a safe adult they can trust, no matter their age. Lastly, I would also say it is creating a good relationship with the parents and keeping constant open communication!

My experience with special needs children...

I have supported children with various needs as a substitute teacher and as a student teacher. I have supported children on the spectrum, with attention disorders, and with IEPs. I also have a bachelor's in Psychology and have a small background in understanding and supporting individuals with behavioral and mental disorders.

The most important part about being a nanny...

A favorite memory would be when I made pizzas with a few boys I was babysitting (ages 3, 5, and 8). I bought dough and toppings and got to let them have some hands-on help with making their own food. I practiced counting each of the toppings with them, and I got to play as a pizza shop customer, and they "took my order" and had so much fun pretending to have their own pizza shop.
