A little bit about me

Hi! I'm Amanda and I love kids! I'm a single mom of a very sweet 5 year old boy and have him for one week at a time, every other week. He currently goes to school from Tuesday to Thursday so I may have to bring him along to a job every other Monday and/or Friday, depending on the schedule. He gets along great with other kids and is super social and friendly. I have over 15 years of experience working with children of all ages, including children with special needs. I speak conversational Spanish, am great at cooking/meal prep and cleaning. I am very caring and loving and playful with kids. I'm currently looking for something around 20-30 hours per week, and am open to evening and weekend hours as well, depending on the week/my schedule. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve worked with children since I was 14 years old. I started by babysitting them, then had a high school internship where I aided a first grade teacher in her classroom every morning for a school year, worked at a daycare after graduating when I was 18 years old, have worked at two different daycares while in college, then worked at a gym daycare for a few months, have babysat several friends' kids, and frequently have playdates for my son and his friends.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Building forts, baking cookies, swimming, going on walks/to playgrounds, playing musical chairs, going to museums, libraries, etc

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is being consistent and reliable and caring. Being a nanny requires a big commitment for a family so being there for them is so important. It's also important to ensure that the children's needs are met (emotionally, psychologically, physically, etc) so they can develop and thrive and grow as they should! I also value healthy communication as a nanny.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked in multiple daycares I'm which a few children with special needs were under my care. I have also worked for a school year at a charter school as a para-educator/one-on-one-aid for an adorable first grade boy with Down syndrome. I have also worked at a high school as a para-educator with a whole classroom full of students with varying special needs

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was on a walk on a sunny day with the children I've been nannying and the oldest (5 yr old boy) was riding in his scooter with a Capri Sun in the front holder thingy. Some of it squirted out onto the sidewalk and his little 3 yr old sister asked him if it was his Capri Sun on the ground. He responded by saying "no, it just rained in that spot!" 😆
