Hello my name is Amanda. I have loved kids since I started babysitting at the age of 12. Then at the age of 17 I meet a wonderful family my with a 7 years old girl,whom I feel in love with the 1st night I babysit her.(little did I know the family was testing a friend of mine who came to babysit as well.,to become a live in nanny) well due to the fact I love kids I knew how to treat them n show attention.(me,myself grew up and foster care so I knew what a kid craved) well I moved in next day and become part of the family. I know have a 16 year old daughter (who is in all advaanve classes,taking introduction to law. Is a black belt in karate and of course not to. Mention the best thing that life has ever given me. Well she’s 16 and she really don’t need mommy anymore. I always wanted and still do want another child but I’m 38 now so not sure if that’s gonna happen. Children make me so happy and I love being around them. I have patience,caring,and understanding love for them.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Reading,coloring,anything outdoors,building forts, depending on age if they wanna help I love teaching them to cook. (The smile on their face when the get to crack the egg or put in the blueberries is priceless) hid and seek, parks,dress up or for boys dart guns .water guns. I honestly enjoy absolutely everything I do with kids it’s usually them that come up with the best kind of games with there young imaginations

The most important part about being a nanny...

Must have patience, must be attentive, don’t be afraid to act their age and build forts or play dress up. Let them know you care about them. To me being a nanny isn’t a job I do it bc I love being around kids and watching them grow and learn. When mom and dad arnt there they have you so they have to be comfortable with you and trust you. Another important part of being nanny is knowing the right way to discipline a child. I don’t believe In spanking.not once did I spank my child and she only had time out once.You can’t just immediately get onto a kid for let’s say throwing things. You must let them know what they are doing isnt the right way to act (they are kids learning to grow up so just like us the didn’t get a book on how to be kids) by letting them know their behavior isn’t acceptable it allows them to acknowledge that and them decide if they wanna fix it.
areand most of the time it works . Now when it doesn’t I put them in timeout for the amount of time. That matches their age.

My experience with special needs children...

I loved and loved a 3 year old boy who is now 5 names JT. He was born with autism,but he is the smartest kid I know. At night we would lay in his bed and id read to him his fav book or he would read it to me. His memory is outstanding. After reading I would put to ANY state on the map of the United States he had on the walll next to his bed and this amazing child was able to tell me any state I pointed to. He impressed me I’m so many ways. I still go see him and watch him from time to time bc he started calling me mom.(which was fine I’m a family friend and the mother wasn’t coming back) I love that little man(that’s what I call him) so much. Bath tile was his fav bc depending on how good he was that day decided how many waterguns we could have in the bathtub that night. He started out with 5 by bath time he had 4 either way we would play cop and robbers or zombie apocalypse . I would make up these stories he just loves and laughed so hard at and of course he always save the day.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Oh so many. I use to send the 7?year old I lived with and took care of cards in the mail letting her know how special she was or I’d get a friend to call during Xmas and pretend to be Santa. One year with a different family we went on a haunted train ride.wasn’t scary it was meant for kids. We also did the polar express train ride. The family u lived with when u was 17 .(i still go back to east tx to see them) she is now 23 and married. Anyways the brought me Houston (we lived 3 1/2 hours away and we went ro moody gardens ,astro world. Magic time niching and I cant remember the name of the place but I’m sure y’all know it .where u get to go into a castle and eat in a arena while watching 2 people run at each other on horses and couldn’t use silver ware bc apparently they didn’t have it back them. That one of my favorite memories bc that’s when I knew I wasn’t just a nanny I was family and will always be.
