A little bit about me

I have been caregiving for about 6 years and it’s something I truly love! I have a nursing background and have worked with both children and adults, including those with special needs. I am very patient, gentle and attentive. I naturally connect with kids and love creating a safe, calm and loving space. Where they feel comfortable, understood and cared for like the special little individuals that they are!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have experience with caring for all ages. In regards to children I’ve cared for NICU babies and children within the pediatric portion of the hospital as well.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Activities I enjoy doing with children would include doing fun art projects, baking, teaching them new skills like riding a bike or writing in cursive. I enjoy reading books to children, teaching children how to read, teaching children how to play sports as well as being a team player, teaching them how to swim etc.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Adhering and having respect towards the families wishes and schedule in regards to their children is the most important part about being a nanny. Every household is different and requires a person who is willing to do what’s asked of them at all times even when left alone with the families child and or children. It is important to keep the care of the child/children consistent with the families wishes and day to day operation in order to maintain a sense of balance within the parents and the children's lives.

My experience with special needs children...

I do not have any experience with special needs children but I do have experience with adults who require special needs in which is very similar to children with special needs. I’ve taken care of adults with dementia/Alzheimer’s, adults who were diabetic as well as adults with behavioral disorders.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite most memorable moment when taking care of a child was when I had a pediatric aged child who was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia. Her parents were very busy and weren’t able to visit her in the hospital as much because she was admitted so frequently. We spent the day laughing coloring and finding new ways for her to cope with her sickle cell episodes. At the end of the shift she told me she loved me and didn’t want me to leave. It made me feel extremely good that I could brighten her day and make her forget where she was.
